The GAT Programme is an Actuarial Society of Ghana (ASG) initiative that seeks to collaborate with industry to provide actuarial science graduates with a full year comprehensive and specialized training in actuarial and financial environment that equips them to practice as entry-level professionals and also encourages participants to strive to achieve qualified Actuary status.

The GAT programme therefore intends to provide placement for graduates mostly with passes in the professional exams predominantly for the duration of their National Service as well as internships and special training arrangements whose duration will be dependent on the agreement with the
partner institution.
Goals
The goal of the GAT programme is to:

Expose actuarial talents to the actuarial profession and practice through hands-on training.

Provide industry with such talents as are required to meet the array complex problems in the varied areas of practice in the financial system.

Encourage students, graduates and members to sit for the professional actuarial exam.

Partner with industry to develop actuarial capacity across all practice areas.

Duration: The GAT Programme is expected to last over the national service period or otherwise as agreed with the Partner Institutions

Selection Process: Our comprehensive selection process is strictly based on the merit of professional examination(s) passed and/or candidates achieved graduating degree average.
Candidates must also pass an interview process and skill-based competency test in basic modelling using MS Excel, Excel-VBA or R Programming.

Excel Adapt: The ASG equips the GAT trainees with further “Excel-VBA for Actuaries” modelling skills needed to carryout actuarial and financial modelling in their day-to-day work engagements.

Mentoring: GAT trainees are assigned mentors to understudy for the duration of the programme.
