Schalk van Tondar

Schalk is a Consultant at Milliman Africa and has nine years of experience in general insurance, covering a range of niche, commercial and personal lines of business.

His experience includes product pricing using Generalised Linear Models, calculation of technical provisions, capital calculations under Solvency II, reinsurance optimisation modelling, Own Risk and Solvency Assessments (ORSA), Financial Condition Reports (FCR) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks.

Prior to joining Milliman he spent two years working as an actuarial consultant in markets such as South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana. During this time he was also keenly involved in a number of training and capacity building initiatives, including an actuarial college in Nigeria aimed at helping students prepare for their actuarial exams.

Kakra Duffuor-Nyarko, FASG, FIA

Kakra Duffuor-Nyarko, is the Executive Director and Chief Actuary of StarLife Assurance Company Limited, is the first and only qualified female Actuary in Ghana.

Mrs. Duffuor- Nyarko has more than ten (10) years' experience in the Insurance and Actuarial Consulting Industry specifically with QED Actuaries and Consultants (Aon Hewitt)in South Africa, where she provided actuarial consulting services for not only South African clients but also those from Zambia, Kenya ,Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Mauritius and Ghana. Her wide exposure and expertise in actuarial practice includes: specialization in performing Valuations (Gross Premium and Net Premium), Premium Rating, Embedded Values, Appraisal Values, Analysis of Surplus and Projected Accounts.

Ortopah Kojo Botchey FASG, Actuary SAA.

Mr. Ortopah Kojo Botchey is a General Insurance reserving actuary at SCOR Switzerland Limited, a Tier I Reinsurer and the fifth largest reinsurer in the world. As a reserving actuary of this company, one of his main tasks is to estimate the reserve adequacy of all the SCOR Switzerland's different entities.

Ortopah has over 9 years of experience in reinsurance and reserving of both Specialty and Standard lines of business including Engineering, Agriculture, Marine, Credit and Surety, Medical Mal practice and Motor. He is also responsible for executing and coordinating of the mandatory internal reserving controls. He is involved in the maintenance, testing and design of reports and tools for the reserving team.
