Role: Actuarial Officer
Location: Accra

JOB PURPOSE:

The role of the Actuarial Officer (Product Development and Pricing) is to support the Head of Department in the end-to-end execution of product development, pricing activities, Prophet and DCS coding of both new and existing products within the company.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide technical support in the development and implementation of new product for the company
        o Provides input in designing the product specifications
        o Prices and profit tests new products using appropriate pricing tool
        o Liaise with Valuations Unit to incorporate new products into existing company valuation process
        o Liaises with the Systems Unit to code and test new products in the admin system and the quotation system
        o Liaises with Sales and Marketing to review marketing material and align this to the Actuarial Memorandum
        o Liaises with Training Department to review training material and content
        o Ensure that all the necessary documentation is provided to the Statutory Actuary for his sign off on product development
        o Create policy wording and underwriting guidelines for new products in line with the product specifications
2. Performs reviews to determine profitability and competitiveness of existing business on annual basis
3. Redesign and/or re-price existing products in agreement with the sales and policy administration departments
4. Convene and maintain minutes of the Product Development Committee
5. Create valuation process, including but not limited to Prophet and DCS codes, for all new and existing products
6. Review and maintain Prophet and DCS codes to fit their purposes
7. Provide GLA and GFS quotations within agreed turnaround times
8. Manage implementation and review of reinsurance treaties and calculations used by the company with the approval of the Head of Department
9. Provide technical support for the Group and Bancassurance portfolio:
        o Assists with queries regarding the Group administration system
        o Profit share calculations
        o Profit commission from reassures
10. Provide technical support in the design and implementation of new administration systems:
        o Provide input in system specifications
        o Provide input in system test plans
        o Assist in user testing
11. Performs any other duty that is assigned


EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 1st or 2nd Degree from an accredited University
• Progress in Professional Qualification will be an added advantage with at least 4 actuarial exams
• At least 2-3 years post National Service experience


SELECTION CRITERIA / SKILLS:

• Strong computer knowledge especially Microsoft Excel
• Good Communication skills
• Good Analytical skills
• Must have good report writing skills
• Must be results oriented and self-motivated
• Strong focus on customer service delivery
