Past Presidents

Ernest Amartey-Vondee, FASG, AIFoA

President, ASG (2008- 2012)

Ernest Amartey-Vondee graduated from the University of Ghana with a joint honours Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics & Computer Science, and thereafter obtained a Master of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the City University of London in the United Kingdom.

He is an Affiliate Member of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries of the United Kingdom, a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Ghana, a Chartered Statistician and Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society of the United Kingdom.

As part of his working life, he has held senior management positions in the leading social and commercial insurance companies in Ghana, and has for several years, served as a part-time lecturer in Statistics and Life Insurance at both the Department of Statistics and the Business School, at the University of Ghana.

He has participated and presented papers at several international conferences, and published numerous articles on life insurance, pensions and social security.

He is the immediate Past President of the Actuarial Society of Ghana, and presently employed as the Director of Regulations at the National Pensions Regulatory Authority of Ghana.

Frank Odoom, FASG, PhD

President, ASG (2004 – 2008)

Dr. Frank Odoom retired from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in 2010, where he served as the Director General from 2004 to 2008. He also worked with Quality Insurance Company and most SSNIT most part of his working life.

Dr. Frank Odoom had his initial university education at the University of Cape Coast after which he proceeded to Iowa State University in the USA where he obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics in 1988. He later obtained an MSc degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Manitoba in Canada in 1994.

Dr. Odoom has attended, participated and made presentations at several international and local conferences on Insurance and Social Security for Actuaries and Statisticians under the auspices of organizations like the International Social Security Association and other Professional Associations.

Dr. Odoom is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, UK and a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Ghana, of which he was the President from 2004 to 2008. The society celebrated its 10th anniversary during his tenure.

He's served on several boards and is currently serving on the AIESEC Advisory Council, Nationwide Micro Finance Ltd, Dayi Rural Bank, Unique Insurance Company Ltd and is currently a consultant at Davies Consulting Ltd.

Kwesi Osei

President, ASG (2002 -2004)

Prior to his retirement in 2010, Kwesi Osei spent majority of actuarial career at Tristar Insurance Services Ltd. He later joined the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) until retirement.

Eric N. A. Adjei

President, ASG (1996 – 2001)

Mr. Eric Adjei was the first president and a founding member of the society. His spent all his career life at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) where he also served the Director General. It was during his tenure as president that, the Actuarial Society of Ghana (ASG) jointly hosted the International Professional Meeting of Leader in Actuarial Profession in Africa with the International Association of Actuaries (IAA).
